The Leadership Department is headed by the Custodian who’s role involves coordinating the various organs of the movement to work toward its collective progress. The Custodian serves as leader as primus inter pares (first among equals) and is required to be open to the initiatives and suggestions of other members especially those occupying a leadership role in the other departments.

The Custodian’s role involves implementation and coordination. Implementation in the sense that the initiatives decided by the movement come to fruition. Coordination in the sense that these initiatives do not collide or conflict with one and other.

The role of the leadership department as a whole involves diplomacy and the task of expanding the movement to new corners of the political and social spheres. For this task, the officials occupying the leadership department function as diplomats who are tasked with engaging individuals and organizations while exploring new ways to develop the movement.

Most importantly, the leadership department is charged with cultivating new leaders in other organs of Synthesis and its affiliated organizations. This involves an education process  and perpetuating an understanding of what it means to create and build organizations for the fundamental development and invigoration of society. Synthesis does not want a situation where everything is controlled by one set of institutions or individuals. Hence, it is the role of the leadership branch to cultivate leaders to build up new organizations to redress specific ills in society while cooperating with other bodies seeking to do the same.

The leadership ethos in Synthesis boils down to a collective decision making process involving broad initiatives and strategies and a specific, centralized implementation process coordinated by the leaders of the 7 departments and streamlined by the Custodian and the leadership branch.

The leadership department aims to build a powerful and lasting humanitarian movement to mobilize behind relevant documents concerning human rights and the universal application of them. Through these means, it hopes to develop and employ successful strategies to expand the movement’s influence and prowess on the political scene.
